If I recall correctly, the building in the background was where the first High Times (before it was next to Broadway Books) used to be, pre-Target Center

Question

I worked at that High Times. The owner used to walk around with $2k stuffed in his pants at all times.

Wasn't there some sort of seedy bar back there called Froggy's?

I think Froggy's was a seedy restaurant on Lake and Dupont.

A good Vietnamese Deli with 50 cent sticky buns, and orange strangled ducks hanging in the window...

No shit. I drove thru Uptown yesterday for the first time in almost a year. It might as well have been 50th & France.

I don't recall a time in the past 20 years that uptown wasn't about gentrification. It's just now fully come into fruition. Long gone are the days of selling drugs on McDonald's patio, drinking Cold Springs under the Dupont/Emerson/Fremont bridges, or any semblance of relevant youth culture or music scene. Lake Street has become sanitized, commodified, over-priced ugly fucking strip mall.

Not according to this review:

Quote:
Bar too small, pretentious bartenders pour drinks too short, food overpriced, what's your "cause"? To rip people off? The only draw is the bands, and when the Uptown opens back up, they'll have a much better venue to play in!
