Ok elders, I've been going through a fucking ton of internet archives lately and I just noticed that Hi-Times had a location that I never knew about: at the site that is now City Center.

1979

My first memory of HT was at the 5 corners location by First Ave, before the Target Center was erected:

As seen, on the right:

And finally, I remember it being renamed Hi-Times/Best of Times, next to everyone's favorite late night jizz joint, Broadway Books:

Now then, have I missed anything- were there any other locations I may have been unaware of?

Nice photo dig, Camo. High Times wasn't on my radar in the original location. The other locations are what I remember.

P.S. - Still doing the wrestling and MMA photography?

No. I enjoyed my run as an MMA photographer while it lasted, but I reached the pinnacle of what I could achieve here- I've met and have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, have been paid for work by magazines, been hired to teach other photographers how to improve their work. But ultimately I got burned the fuck out by the shitty promoters (there were several) and publications (including StarTrib) a casino (in Hinckley) a blogger for a network (a FOXy one) all looking for free work.

Getting "paid" in publicity is not getting paid, period. And this is a bad market to try and earn in. So I generally take gigs that come my way, but I don't go out of my to find them.

Had no idea about the pre-City Center location. I almost forgot about that one where Target Center is now. I believe I bought a leopard bracelet with spikes on it there, don't remember much more about it. Kind of small if I remember correctly. I swear there was a bar around there too called Froggy's (?) The Hi-Times on 9th was sort of small too, and sold a lot of bongs?!!?!? I also swear before Broadway was there, there was a t-shirt shop on that corner. Had a custom shirt made there, and the cougar lady working there wanted my innocent, young, nubile body. Across the street from the Hi-Times on 9th was some sort of porn store where the guy who became "Chi-Chi Larue" worked, big Italian guy. I helped him put up Halloween decorations once. There was also some sort of super small leather bar that didn't last long next door. Also, long before Rock Bottom and whatever else is/was there, there was a gay bar called Cloud 9 right on that corner. I love those old photos of downtown.

Have you ever tried submitting your photos to National Geographic? I could swear that they're always having "contests" for readers submissions.

Speaking of old pictures, I believe this was 1977:

That's facing north on 6th st, in case you haven't pinpointed it. That "bowling" sign would later be replaced with "StarDust":

Now talk about a rare pic^^

I was searching for WEEKS before I found a shot above. There's many pics of Block E, but they're almost all of the Hennepin side, or down 7th street. That's the only pic of StarDust that I know of. I heard they were closed by the fire department on code violation.

Photo contests... meh. I've entered a few, and actually won one with a boxing shot. It was a photography site based in the UK.:

But now I just take what I either enjoy, or what I get paid for. Trying to outdo myself and everyone else around me to "be the best" or trying and get recognition for potential future payoffs is just a miserable headache.
