| Lets talk about em! I never got to see them live because the dude commited suicide. I have always enjoyed the tunes. I got some vinyl but not all the good stuff. So I decided to rectify the situation and just picked up the Heart and Soul 4CD box. It claims to have the entire recorded output plus live tracks, Peel sessions etc. Over 5 hours of tunes plus a big booklet! I was listening to it on random on the ipod at lunch today and it was nice, very nice. |

Heart and Soul is pretty complete, unless you want to delve into the realm of TV and radio appearences etc.
I grabbed a copy from Half-Price Books in St. Paul for $20 and it was worth every penny.
They were pretty punky in the Stiff Kittens and Warsaw days, and both Felix and I have been known to give them a little air time on the radio. |

| Simply love them. I think I'll pick up a copy of that. My love became renewed when I saw 24 Hour Party People. Love Joy Division. Just love them. |

| When I was in Borrowed Time, we used to put out cassette albums; one of these was a "tribute" if you will, to Joy Division, titled "I.C.B. (Ian Clearly Breathes)", around 1983, I think. This was the one that perked up the attention of local music critics, despite having released five or six tapes previously. I no longer have the article, but my favorite review suggested that another new local band had made their debut, riding the doom-and-gloom bandwagon. I wish I still had that review! |

They don't "play".
They "Perform". |

And I was reminded of my total lack of interest in Happy Mondays when I saw 24 Hour Party People.
Did everybody pick out Andy "Gollum" Serkis as Martin Hannett in that movie? |

| Thanks to Patti Pagan (where has she been?) for lending me the 24 Hour Party People DVD. That was a pretty cool flick. Can't wait to listen to more of the Joy Division set. CWB--Didn't realize you were in Borrowed Time! I don't know if I ever saw em live but I think I have a piece of vinyl, you did put out some vinyl right? |

| Love Joy Division. I had a huge crush on a girl in high school, and was talking on the phone to her, and she heard them playing in the background, so she asked me what I was listening to. I told her that it was Joy Division and they were such an awesome band, totally depressing and beautiful at the same time, blah blah blah. She didn't see the appeal of them, and it was not long after that I no longer saw the appeal of her. Peter Hook is one of my bass heroes. |
