Along with vintage synthesizers, punk and new wave, most of you know that my other great passion is WWI aviation. Take it from me, this movie is gonna suck donkey balls more than the combined performers at Filth Fest ever could.

I was actually gonna start a thread about the first world war on here so you and I would have even more threads to be the only posters in.

Goodbye to all that .

I didn't go to the MGM webpage, all of those movie websites are cheesy as shit. I did check out the imdb.com link, and I can't tell this is gonna suck at all. Regardless of the fact that any movie put out through a Hollywood studio has an 80% chance of sucking hard.

This is directed by Tony Bill, and I gotta admit, he made one of my favorite movies, Five Corners.

William Wellman made two films about the Lafayette Escadrille, and was a pilot during WWI in same outfit, I wonder if he'll be a character.

I guess I'm feeling if this is done well, this could be cool. The technology is there to make dogfights realistic and exciting.

But really I should just be bitter and cynical and just say This is gonna suck.

Only because it has a lovey-dovey sub-plot. Nothing ruins a good war movie like a girl. Other than that, the aerial stuff looks great. Best dogfight movie thus far; Battle of Britain (1969)

This looks like it's all about James Franco's cheekbones.

so when did Trevor Rabin become the hardest working d-list composer in Hollywood? Along with this film, he's scoring or has scored in 2006: The Guardian (Costner/Kutcher ...now THERE's a good idea), Gridiron Gang (The Rock coaches football), Glory Road (Texas Western in the NCAAs, bombed), and something about snakes on an aircraft.

In Ollies world, if you're gonna make a picture based on history you CANNOT re-write that history. I'm all for integrated arms of the service, I'm all for integration of the races, but look at this picture of the real Lafayette Escadrile. Where's the black man?

It would be nice to think that American flyers were all brothers under the leather helmets, but come on, mixed-race military units in 1917? I don't think so...

Dude, it's Hollywood, don't you remember when they took the script for the Steve McQueen flick The Hunter and turned the character of the dog into a part for Levar Burton.

Yeah my point exactly, it's what RWC would call artistic license.

It's difficult to imagine anything more sweet and glorious than to die for the fatherland.

Being awarded this before you die would be a bit better
