Well duh, he played guitar in Timbuktu.

It did sound pretty sweet in that sick/syrupy string style.

I've got a Hohner string synth here that needs to be fixed up. I couldn't do it, the power supply is fucked and it's Italian of course.

I've got a guy in Brooklyn Park that fixes vintage synths. He fixed the Crumar and the Pro600, and I guess he's doing some work for Tim Sexton.

PM me if you want his info.

Oh, and any recordings of Timbuktu? I remember seeing the name around all the time but I don't remember seeing them. Who was in the band?

Tim Mitchell
Buck Hazlett
Shawn Pike
Ivan Daniel
Shari Gordon

The only thing that I remember that they have recorded is on a compilation called "MEMO", a cassette. I have this somewhere.

They also did a video for the song "Firelight", I can still picture it, someone probably has it. They were "dark". Very good but short-lived.

I know I don't know a lot, that's why I come here. I like to learn about what I missed. I figured it was Shawn but needed it verified. I can ask him if he has any stuff of theirs next Wednesday at Grumpy's.

Bullshit. I know what those guys look like. Those impostors are just a bunch of little kids. Wink

With distortion thru a 4x12 I would describe the sound as "Crushing".

I think the Elka was one of the first polyphonic string synths.
The weird voltage at First/Seventh always played hell with its tuning.

I have a very decent recording from when they opened for The Birthday Party.

Buck is still my all time favorite drummer.

Buck is a fantastic drummer and a very nice guy. I run into him once in a while, he's always got a nice smile on his face.
