If you like the Swedish Vampire theme Check out Ingmar Bergman's Vargtimmen (Hour of the Wolf).

A Guide to Recognizing your Saints.

Forgot how much this movie reminded me of being a kid growing up, and how much I relate to the older guy remembering those times growing up.

"Manic". A movie about an angry teen who gets sent to a psych unit to work on his problems. It's a small movie, made on a tiny budget, starring younger versions of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zooey Deschanel, and Don Cheadle.

I enjoyed it for what it was, and it's easy to see what a good actor JGL was turning out to be, just a couple of years post-Third Rock. Zooey is pretty good, and has a couple of great scenes, but her part is kinda small.

No big revelations or even very powerfully emotional scenes, but it was gritty, and pretty realistic, I think.

On Netflix On-Demand.

I concur with wb, "Once Were Warriors" is a great movie. Whether or not Maori culture interests you, the raw brutality might.

I've got a bunch of family in N.Z. and apparently "Warriors" is pretty spot on. That having been said I really thought it spoke it to people in poverty everywhere......funny I saw it in the theater when it came out, then went to a party and got clocked in the jaw trying to step in between a friend of mine and his old lady who were known to throw fists.

I love Zooey, except in 500 Days of Summer because she was such a bitch. Reminds me of "the one that got away" in my own life, looks wise. So watching her is alywas bittersweet.
