I'm looking for someone who does this, with references.

http://www.centerpointplumbing.com/index.html

Owner Jim Cote is the bro of the manager at Treehouse recs. He came an did a complete reinstall of the water lines at my old place. Replaced cast iron pipes with PEX, and did a great job. Very quick, very on-budget. I was impressed, and would use him again in a heartbeat.

Thanks, YITH.

Actually, I found another guy during this shitty process just before you posted, and it's also someone I'd also recommend:

GHHeatingandair.com

I haven't use him for other services yet (water softener, central air, furnace) but he does it all, and charged what he quoted, which was still better priced than Home Depot or Lowes by a few hundred.

I'll second Jim at Center Point Plumbing as superb. He did a couple of required repairs in anticipation of our house sale. On time, fast, efficient and easy to work with.

My toilet started leaking horribly from the base. I assume the wax ring is shot. Any idea what something like that will cost me to pay someone to fix?

A sarcastic ass you are, and a handyman I am not. But after looking at my vintage set of Home Improvement books from the late 1950s I think I can do this job myself.

Ollie, trust me on this, there are debutantes from Atlanta who know more about home repair than I do, but the wax ring is something one can handle...

Now that is a good idea...."Don't worry ladies, just get in the car, ignore the wax ring and the scrapers....."
