A certain sound man in town has the Moby's door in his studio. Many a drunk has been hurled from that door.

I remember George Carlin doing his impersonation of "The Hippy-Dippy weatherman" there once.

Gold.

I had my shoes stolen there while I was wearing them.
I'm not going to lie. I was to scared to try to get them back.
The guy walked up and said his girlfriend would really like them.
hot pink stiletto pumps
Every time I wore them, though, I'd have bloody knees and elbows from falling.
I guess he did me a favor

Never went there. Ollie Stench was wearing a Moby's shirt though ("Whale of a Drink") at Drinking with Ian a couple weeks back. I think one of his shots was the Moby Dick.

Never set foot in there myself. Wish I would have, at least once.

Last time I was there was with some Southern Thunder sound guys and I think maybe Jeff Ferraro from 1st Ave. I ate a chicken sandwich. I think it was made from chicken, anyways.

I'm guessing '89, since my last year at First Ave was '88 and it was still open.

I had my first St. Pauli Girl there. Likewise, my first Guiness, and my first Beck's. I didn't know much at 18, but I knew life is too short to spend your hard-earned paychecks on cheap domestic beer. I was propositioned a number of times by certain ladies who frequented the place, but I kept it to friendly conversation, and I think they actually appreciated that. Some of us had some pretty good conversations, during their "breaks", although you never saw any of the girls' customers sitting around having a chat with them. Cool

My first roommate and I worked across the street at Marc's Big Boy, as did the mother of my biological daughter. We broke up what appeared to be a fight in front of Moby's once. A guy fitting the stereotyped popcorn pimp image was beating a woman with a jewel-studded cane, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers. As my friend cold-cocked the guy, and I tried to help the woman to her feet, she grabbed the cane and started hitting us with it. Who can figure these things out? Ah, those were the good old days... Rolling Eyes

Keep up this nostalgia-baiting, and I'm going to have to start scanning and posting my photos from Plantation Pancakes. Wink
