Since everything in Rock and Roll these days is recycled, I give them credit for recycling the good stuff. They can pull it off, and I haven't seen any bands do glam rock right since the mid seventies. They have the sound, look and moves down.
All those shit-hair bands from the eighties and nineties that feebly attempted to be "glam", like Motley Crue, Britney Fox, Poison Skid Row and that ilk couldn't rock their way out of their wigs. They truly sucked. Bad hair, stupid clothes, poorly applied makeup accompanied by stupid songs didn't make them glamourous.
So yeah, I like The Darkness.  |

| I read about them in some music mags. I ordered their CD for myself because it sounded fun. It has not arrived yet. I hope it is fun. I gotta explore the web site more and see if there are any more silly videos. I like silly videos as long as they rock. Have you heard the CD zom? |

I love how really ugly they are, saw one video last week and thought they were perfect.I hope to god they aren't serious with this. Cuz it's too good.
But, I don't know if I could listen to that voice for 35-45 minutes. It's just too High all the time.
I'll stick with with Raging Slab for now. |

The Darkness sucks my skinny ass... and when they're done... They go frontside.
Sure, they're better than alot of the bands that MTV is throwing at me recently... But that only puts them a little above "suck".

I don't have Cable TV. MTV has no influence or impact on me. Believe it or not, there are bands that have gained an audience without it.
I would rather see a band like The Darkness, ugly, over the top and pompous, dressed silly and singing in falsetto like Freddy Mercury than any "heartfelt" suburbanite shit-rock.
I would gladly pay money to see The Darkness "suck your skinny ass" rather than be subjected to your band's acid-washed jean and goatee non-rock. But that's just me.

Historically the bands I've liked (as well as the bands I like presently) don't ever make it onto TV.
I liked the Joneses for trashy Glammy Rock- wore out their record (Keeping up with the Joneses) and their cover of Crocodile Rock was pretty good. And yes- they must have to be Butt ugly to be a great Glam band. I think it must be a prerequisite. |

Oh shit... I'd try to insult you back but I can barely type I'm giggling so much.
On your recommendation I'm going to look further into this Darkness thing.
You're not exposed to MTV my ass. Ever turned on the radio, looked at a billboard sign, overheard 14 year old kids having a conversation?
I've only looked into The Darkness minimally... but from what I can see from the storefront window is a bunch of fucking hooey.
They've taken the Har Mar Superstar joke over to the metal market.
