A search didn't turn up a "guitars" thread, hence it would seem long past time to start one.

I've got one of these.....

I pulled it out of the case last night for the first time in several years and thoroughly enjoyed playing it. For the price, you would have been hard pressed to find a better made guitar in the late 70s-early 80s. Solid construction, bound body, dressed jumbo frets nice bursty finish. The higher line models had coil tapping and fancy inlays. These were played extensively by the late John McGeoch. Good enough for him, maybe too good for you!!

I always liked those, I wanted to buy one about 20 years back but they were sort of hard to find. Bill Nelson used those as well for a period.

My favorite guitar was an Electra Working Man X260. This one didn't take the effect carts but had a built in pre-amp which made for a nice warm fuzz when run thru a Ross distortion box. I had to give it to John Olsen of Blissful Discharge because I owed him 3 months rent on the Iron Fist practice space. They are pretty rare these days, but still only go for about $200 tops.

and my fave distortion box

I've gone thru 3 of these, and I currently possess Freakstorms. This was the only effect I used on the Chinamen recordings.

I can't find a picture of my guitar. Maybe it's really rare and worth a fortune!

Huh, he sits back by my guitar collection, I guess I should check the cases...

Ollie, I use a Ross Distortion in my Pedal-Board Unit. They're great.

No, it looks kinda like this one on the left, only mine is a reissue of some kind from the late 90's, it's more blonde with silver chrome hardware, and it doesn't have the fancy frets.

While searching for the picture to post I came across a web site that has a reverse-engineered schematic and PCB layout for the Ross. I think I'm gonna try to build one and put it in one of the old stomp boxes that fried out.

My Electra sounded really good going thru a Radio Shack reverb unit (reverb turned down, input cranked up and output cranked up) and a 1963 Gibson Flacon 2x10.

i have a '65 jazzmaster that i use when i want to play pretty-like. i've tried using it in more rocking projects and it never sounds tough enough. but i love it and it's my favorite guitar that i own.

i have a mid 90's gibson SG. nothing too special. kind of a cheapy gibson. but it has bite and sounds much tougher than the jazzmaster going through my pedals/amp.

i think i want to get an old SG with a Bigsby so that i can i have a tough guitar i can be as proud of as my jazzmaster. i have heard that stringing guitars with a bigsby is a pain in the ass though. is this true?
