School Daze -- great
She's Gotta Have It -- great
Do the Right Thing -- great
Jungle Fever -- so-so
Crooklyn -- didn't like it
Malcolm X -- loved it
Mo Better Blues -- liked it except for the overblown Jewish stereotyping
Bamboozled -- didn't see it but want to
Summer of Sam -- was okay -- I expected a bit more

What did I leave out?

I'm forgetting the name...

The basketball one with Denzel Washington and Ray Allen. I liked it, kind of a corny premise (jailbird dad can get his sentence cut short if he convinces his highschool superstar son to commit to the state university), but I still enjoyed it.

You forgot:
Get on the Bus (the Million Man March)

The basketball movie was called He Got Game

Bamboozled was OK, but the ending was completely ridiculous. I thought that Summer of Sam was one of the better things he's done. Not as good as Do the Right Thing, obviously, but a good film all the same.

Yeah, I love the Crooklyn soundtrack - if even for just the Staples 'Respect Yourself', which is a great tune. Other good ones too

Spike Lee. Rank ‘em if ya got ‘em:

Top Ten:
Do the Right Thing, 1989
She's Gotta Have It, 1986
4 Little Girls, 1997
The Original Kings of Comedy, 2000
Crooklyn, 1994
Joe's Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads, 1983
Girl 6, 1996
Mo' Better Blues, 1990
Clockers, 1995
A Huey P. Newton Story (TV), 2001

Honorable but troubling mentions:
Malcolm X, 1992
School Daze, 1988

Three very crappy/interesting ones:
He Got Game, 1998
Summer of Sam, 1999
Jungle Fever, 1991

Purposely avoided:
Bamboozled, 2000
Get on the Bus, 1996

BUMP

I just re-watched Do the Right Thing over the weekend. Great, great movie.

I like how there are no heroes and no real villans in the film. Makes you think about who you are sympathizing with and why.
