Hey.
I have tried to spike my hair several different times, but it has by no means worked out.  . I have tried glue, wood glue, gel, hair spray, jello even...(someone said it would work). My hair is about 10-12 inches...Any tips/tricks/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The C4B method:
Hot knox in a spray bottle. For hair as long as yours, I'd recommend working with no less than 1" square chunks at the scalp. You may want to partition it out with a comb and just loosely fasten each strand with little barrettes, hair clips, rubber bands, or bobby pins. With a little planning you can get everything nice and even.
You follow the recipe for clear knox gelatin, and when it's boiling and still completely liquid, pour it into an empty spray bottle with a funnel. Let it cool til it is the highest temperature you can safely tolerate on your scalp, but still viscuous enough to fit through the spray nozzle. Depending on how long your arm to hair ratio is, you may need a buddy to help. Bribe said buddy with beer, or if you are underage, play their favorite LP for them. You will apply this formula, working quickly, first at the roots, which you want to saturate the most for a firm foundation. You may need to bend over, and let gravity do some of the work for you. A blowdryer is good too, but this again may be difficult without help from a friend unless you are Kali. Set the hairdryer on high and blow from the roots to the ends to help dry, don't be a wuss. I like to twist each Strand and tug it straight out or up as I go. You will be applying at least 3 coats or so so just get the basic done first time around. Another thing is you can work in sections of head, top first then back. Keep in mind the angles, which should radiate outward evenly, so you don't end up cemented into a goofy look. When the gel is too thick to squirt through the nozzle (once it cools down some) take off the nozzle and set the spray bottle, and the nozzle seperately, into a waiting pan of <boiling water. (just under but VERY hot). Make sure the nozzle is completely submerged. Give it just a little while (flip the record) and then repeat. I dunno give it 3 layers or so, til your goop runs out, you get dizzy, of your arms get tired. By then your hair should be stiff anyhow. Sometimes you have to suffer for beauty if you are a slave to antifashion (unless you rent out Jorge's team of New Jerseyites). Final step: go to Extreme Noise on a Monday afternoon and simply make a purchase to claim your free goodies! Works like a charm, I have had hair up for 2--3 weeks with this method. It is hard to wash out (use very hot water) and will probably strip your colour. Some people also complain that it rots and stinks but I never really found that to be the case with me. Nonetheless, it's kinder than spraypaint. P.S. Never under any circumstances use solder or rubber cement in your hair. ------------------

Having just perfected my method I have a few bits of info to share. First if you have long hair don't use pomade at all. People seem to like to use it but it gets warm and very flexible then. Hair spray is the shiznit. Make sure to get either the aqua net 3 or rave 4. Well I spose any cheap hair spray will work but make sure to buy a big can. And having a second person helps a lot but you can still succeed without them. Use a hair dryer, makes life a lot easier and makes the process faster. My method for a hawk is begin putting it up with the hairspray and blow dry it. Once it is all up begin combing through it, (this is where a 2nd person helps)make sure to leave no gaps and keep pulling it up and spraying and drying it.(when I stop being lazy and put my pics of my hair on a site I will post em)When I had spikes I used Elmers school glue gel and that stuff was wicked as well. Just ooze the shit on your hand grab a chunk of hair, and starting at the base slide the glue on all the way to the tip, hold hair up and blow dry. 2nd person also helps here too. I have has people to tell me to use eggs, glue, knox, gel, shaving cream, you name it. and the best thing I have found is hair spray cuz it comes out easy as hell. first off i hate hairspray! hairspray is poseur gear. Glue will come out nicely with hot water,as does knox, you just need freakin' hot water and loads of patience. but really why let yourself get all civilian-ed out after a night of punkin' out hard? keep your ass punk for days, hell months! it's good for you!
i have REALLY fine hair, always have.
i've found that if i mess up my hair with wet hands, and alot of soap that is always a good start.
then you can have a go at your hair with what ever product you got handy.
my mom was a slag when it came to helping me out too. so messing up your hair is a good start iffin your alone.IP: Logged |

Don't use conditioner and try to (insert adhesive) it up as soon after you washed it but after it's dry. Use a fine brush and brush it repeatedly right before you gunk it all up.IP: Logged |

Um, Olive soap (kiss my face works fine or bulk slabs from a middle eastern deli) or Imperial Leather if you have a friend going to Britain, those are 2 things that work really well, but probably not for hair as long as yours manda.IP: Logged |

Hey I am even going ot be up there tomorrow on the bike so maybe I can take some pics and you can cut the ribbon and break a bottle over the board before you cruise off into the sunset. Also I got one of those shorty's tools if you want it. Oh and make sure to do the hand off in a slow motion rocky style type thing. Thanks Patti, it's the Train the the City of New Orleans. I have actually taken that trip many a time. Amtrak may be too rich for my blood right now, though. I mean, I would spend any amount of money but the fact is I simply don't have the funds. And my parents, god bless 'em, are teachers, one of the most under-respected and inadequately compensated professions on the planet.

Well, we are all out of knox and corn starch... and, I really want my hair spiked...... SOOoOoo0o0o... I mixed flour, and water, and hair spray... I made 1 spike!!! on the top of my head... it is kind of holding!!!!.. Long hair reallyyyyy sucks. I should just... get a mohawk... or something. Errrr..... Me? Mine's green and about 6". Kind of shitty in the back ever since I let the wrong person trim it, the back is too damn narrow. You wouldn't think that so many people don't know how to cut sides.
