I'm transposing a jazz chart (chords, melody & lyrics) & don't want to have to handwrite it all out because I'm lazy & no one will be able to read it. I did a google search for music notation software (free or shareware) but what came up was more sophisticated than what I needed (MIDI, etc.) Anyone know of downloadable preferably free notation software? My instrumentalists & I will thank you!

Coda is an Eden Prairie-based company that's been making music notation software for years. They've got a free downloadable version of NotePad that might warrant a look-see.

(I may or may not have done or be doing some development work on their flagship Finale product, but I don't know squat about sheet music and haven't looked at NotePad myself.)

No-Ta-Tion?
What's that?
Funny idea though, that you can write music down on paper!
