Here you go, how about all those early nineties uncategorizable bands? Inspiral Carpets anyone? The Judybats get you goin'?

So you kind of mean that late 80s/ early 90s, Manchester deal with Inspiral Carpets, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, etc?

Yeah, I guess that's what reminds me most of the early '90s, I really only started this in response to the thread about 1990-2001 area. Wasn't it like KJJO or something that played all that stuff? Can't remember the station, but those bands were all over the radio.

"Madchester" The "baggy" look. Casuals.

Actually, I'll admit to liking the Stone Roses, and I have to tip my hat to the Happy Mondays, but just because I'm impressed by how well Shawn Ryder made decadence look SOOOOO.......decadent. That guy alone supported several third world countries and major pharmacuetical conglomerates.

Ungh! i have to say it. Ever since Zommie started this thread I've had this AWFUL early 90's song in my head.

I think the song is called "There She Goes" and the weasles who wrote it were called "The La's"

God, i hated that song.

thanks, zom zom

Well, I like the whole friggin' lot of them...so i don't find it shameful to include your favorites, too. Hell, i'd take bad brit-pop (Sclub7) over crap psuedo-religious pop-metal (Creed) anyday. BTW, does anybody DJ britpop in town anymore? Is it somewhere that you can buy a beer for under $5?

ewww...emf.
What I hate is that singer's weak, fey voice.
Tom Jones did it with them as well I believe.
I've been listening to an internet brit-pop station that played it one too many times..

And one more thing: Squeeze. I don't know that they fall into this category 'cuz they've been around forever, but KJJO played the hell out of them. Hate 'em!

I'm with Reno here, I actually really like The Stone Roses self titled album, lots of cool stuff.

What about SoHo's "Hippy Chick"? KJO-104 used to play that all the time. Whenever I hear that song now it gets stuck in my head for days, stolen Johnny Marr riff and all. Damn hippies and their chicks.

Hey, I like Squeeze! Listen to Argy Bargy, or the first one: UK Squeeze.
Or don't. I likes 'em anyway.
Rifle Sport covered Hippy Chick back when it was a hit.
That tremelo part was hard to duplicate...

I dug that SoHo tune.

I was just recently turned on to Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine (who's original name was Ollie Stench the Unstoppable Sex Machine!) but I can't find the album anywhere. I think it's called 101 Dalmations.

Me and the singer for PWEI had a "moment" when they played at First Ave. He spotted my Abrasive Wheels t shirt while he was on stage and then tracked me down afterwards just to say that he and I were probably the only 2 people in the building who knew who Abrasive Wheels were.

Beving, I have a Carter USM tape somewhere...want a copy of it? To be honest, between myself and my sister, we have a lot of odd baggies/madchester/early 90's brit pop (candyflip, anyone?)...and the ability to track down a lot more of it through the in-laws.

A friend still has to repress the urge to skin me alive because I was at that PWEI show, but don't remember a single moment of it. Good to see that someone remembers it...

FYI: The Charlatans play the fine line in January (21st), with next big thing brit-pop act Starsailor. And another recent big one, the Stereophonics, play there on the 28th.

I've heard some of that Brit band "Sparklehorse", and that sounds pretty good. Better than Radiohead, that's for sure.

Really, Radiohead is ok, but I'll propose that they are one of those "emperor's new clothes" type bands. "You like em?.... I guess..then...I do too!"
