Figure we can share info about all kinda stuff so why not guns and other weapons. What kind of guns do you prefer, have, want. Questions and comments are welcome as well as recommendations. Also feel free to post about knives, sap gloves, etc. IP: Logged |

Alright to getthe ball rolling, I like H&K stuff a lot. The USP's are superior to all other handguns used by the military and are built like tanks. They also make really nice rifles like the newer .308 and .45. I would really like a FNFAL so if anyone has one and is willing to part with it, let me know. Pre-ban only of course.IP: Logged |

I got an SKS, same round as the AK-47. I got it a while back (think 91 or 92) before they became popular and a bunch of cheap imitaions were sold. Has the bayonet mount too, unlike many now. I really want to get a Dragonov (sp?) stock for it. Nothing but badass. Anyone carry anything for self defense. I don't mean like a broadsword or anything, maybe pocket knife or pepper spray. I got a real nice pair of police issue sap gloves a while back. Maybe they will be my winter gloves. I used to have a real nice Smith and Wesson pocket knife I carried all the time, but I lost it and almost cried. Nice knives despite not being made by Smith and Wesson.[This message has been edited by Bare Knuckle Mick (edited 12-03-2002).] IP: Logged |

I like guns just fine, and own several. But I'm curious as to why you guys have them? I received my first gun, a .22 single shot rifle when I was 10. I got a 12-gauge for my 12th birthday, a deer rifle soon after that, and I got my dad's S&W police service revolver among others. I used to hunt, therefore I owned rifles. I've kept them and the pistols because they were gifts from my dad and they mean something to me. I keep them safely locked away. If you don't hunt, why do you have guns? Do you target shoot for competition? Or do you just like to take them out and play with them? Why would you own a pistol? For "protection"? Or just because you think it's cool to have one? I'm just curious. IP: Logged |

Wow Zom I have to admit I thought you would have made fun of us on this thread. I own some of my guns because they have been handed down to me from grandfathers and great grandfathers. The others I have bought myself or gotten from my father. I used to hunt a lot, not so much now. And coming from Pennsylvania to here the hunting is much different and different guns must be used. The handguns I have have all be handed down to me but one. I have always wanted this one since I was a wee lad and decided to get it about a year ago. I guess they could be for home protection, but they are mostly used to target practice and attempts at hunting. They ones that have been handed down are very nice to have around for sentimental reasons and a few are the finest ones I own.[This message has been edited by Bare Knuckle Mick (edited 12-03-2002).] IP: Logged |

What type of guns do you have to register? A couple of years ago I got my grandpa's shot gun and what I think is a .22 hand gun and a .22 rifle with a crack in the shoulder stock. Should any of these be registered? I kind of doubt it, but I'm not sure. I wouldn't mind a little target shooting with them, but I really have no interest in hunting or anything. What's a good reference for cleaning these things. I don't think they've been fired in 20 years or more. I imagine they could be pretty dangerous if they were fired for the first time in 20 years and never been cleaned. Again, I don't know. I guess I don't know anything about guns.IP: Logged |

Yeah, I'm about the same spot as Zom on this one, got a 22 when I around 9-10 and a shotgun and a deer rifle soon after. I own a few rifles and shotguns and I also own a S&W police issue revolver .357 magnum, krazy Many of them are gifts or handed down from my father/grandfather and they are all locked up at my parent's home in South Dakota for now. I used to hunt growing up quite a bit, but being a vegetarian now kinda puts a stop to that, but I love target shooting, skeet shooting or just plinkin' at cans w/the 22. Often when I'm home for the holidays or visiting my father and I go out shooting, great bonding/talking experience. IP: Logged |

"Registering" guns? What's that mean? Get youself a Hoppe™ gun-cleaning kit and clean and oil the things. It's easy. If they're not totally rusty they should be serviceable still. My shotgun is a Winchester that was made in the early 1900s, had it checked out and it's fine for all except magnum shells.

I used to have plenty of weaponry and did a lot of hunting. I no longer have any guns, bows, etc. If I want to go 'hunting' these days, I will climb in a tree with my camera. I just don't need those things any longer. Sure there is/was some sentimental value, since I received many guns from family, but they are still in the family and I imagine that I could get them back if I'd really like. I guess that I just don't need the aggravation of having guns around the house. I've been burglarized; would the guns have protected me? No. They would have been stolen. I can't bear the thought of a weapon of mine being used in a crime or killing someone. That would be a bitch. IP: Logged |

I got a .22 semi-auto when I tunred 12. My grandparents had a farm "up north" (Wadena MN) and I used to target shoot and plink all day.Sold the gun when I was about 17 and haven't owned one since. Been thinking about getting a 12g pump just because, and a small handgun for target shooting at the range. Of course being the James Bond fan I was as a kid the Walther PPK is the way to go. I saw Bowling for Columbine even though I'm not pro-gun control or anything. It's not as bad as it would seem, I mean in points out that Canada has little gun control and very few gun deaths. I think people kill each other because life gets more frustrating here, there's a larger wealth gap here than anywhere else, cops are jerks/jocks, etc.I'm gonna get a few when I'm a bit better off financially. Shooting at things (i.e. cans not you) relieves stress, good for an uprising, etc. People always ask what I want one for, and I answer "killing cops". It confuses them because they can't decide if I'm left wing or right wing there. Or "arming the homeless". IP: Logged |

My ex used to bully me about it during our marriage. So I got rid of it. If a man, ever bully me about it, I bully him back. So there!!IP: Logged |

Manda how the hell can you shoot at a dog? Even with a paintball gun? A kid in my neighborhood tried to shoot my dog with his bb gun and I made sure to make his life a living hell. I still have a grudge against him. The dog can't defend itself and those things do hurt. Tell ya what, I will bring my paintball guns out of winter storage and we can go one on one, I take dogs side. As far registering your guns, don't. I have many that have not been registered. And they won't be. I do recommend writing down the serial numbers and putting them in a fireproof safe or somewhere else secure. The less weapons people can prove I won the better. Zom was right on about the Hoppes kit, make sure to get the one that does shotguns, pistols and rifles. Fry, in Canada you can't own handguns. Fuck Canada. IP: Logged |

well you can own handguns in Canada they are just very strictly controlled. You can't take them home, you have to keep them locked up at the range. But realistically, like here or Mexico you can get black market guns readily in Canada. As DI said "I love guns, guns love me, I love guns, they made America free, I love guns, guns are the way, WEAPONS! WEAPONS! WEAPONS!" I like East Bloc military surplus weapons. I have a Moisin Nagant rifle, Nagant revolver, Tokarev, Makarov, FEG, SKS, an early Dragunov, some other commie stuff. For everyday shooting I've got a Wingmaster 12 ga (shoot skeet, not deer) a Mini 14, and a SW 9mm automatic. Some more guns stashed here and there. I haven't counted in a while but it's about 13 or 14 weapons. I used to be really fired up about guns shows, collecting etc. but I have most of the guns I want now and focus more on collecting records these days. I would still really like to get a Broomhandle Mauser and a GI .45. I used to carry a gun pretty often but don't any more as I'm trying to stay out of jail these days. I got arrested a few years ago for shooting a pellet gun off my roof, and the cops got all on my case about my guns. I'm more careful now. I have a place up north and go shooting whenever I can. That should happen here in America. Not because of too many guns, of too many idiots who ruined the guns taboo. What happen to the good ol days, when kids knew guns are part of tool as for hunting. Not threatening people with it. If the gun-related death rise, America may do what Canada is doing. But I will teach my child about the gun. IP: Logged |

Acually, no, I don't. I don't recall going to prison several times, nor do I have any memory of threataning you. As far as the bad temper, that is more subjective so I will not ask that you support that. However, it is an odd thing to say considering we have never met. Now if you equate a aggressive debater with a person with a bad temper, then I see why you leveled such an obtuse opinion. What on earth compelled you to respond to my first post in this thread anyway? What about that post made you uneasy? And for someone who is supposedly afraid, you sure to toss a lot of stones yourself.

You are so right about that. The funny thing is, some, if not most people regard shooting as a violent act--I find just the opposite. I find shooting to be very zen. It's total focus-- the eye, the hand, the gun, the mind.. all working in perfect harmony. It's a good way to relax. IP: Logged |
