OK, I am sure a lot of people can elaborate on this story... but I will post what I heard.

I call this one "How to know who your friends are"

The Cows where in NYC at the New Music Seminar (do they still have those?) and at a party on a rooftop in Manhattan. Shannon somehow stepped through a skylight and broke both of his arms. Well, needles to say, Shannon was pretty helpless. For the rest of their tour the band mates had to help Shannon out with everything.... yes, EVERYTHING.

hey ling, can you change the header so it just says Cows?
they were one of my favorite bands.
i remember shannon playing with both arms in full casts, with some kind of struts built in to his waist to keep 'em perpendicular from his body.
if you hadn't known about the accident, it would have been seen as a great punkrock stage prop. blowing into his horn, which had been dogtaped to a mic stand, was very cool.
i'll have to see if i was shooting that night, or drinking.
i got some other pretty funny pics i'll get up soon.

We are just starting to post online the five issues of Bumpstick we did out here in 95 and 96. Here's a link to the COWS interview. I'll send more when they're ready.

THE Cows (yes THE Cows) Royally sucked until Freddie Votell came along, then they sucked a little less while Freddie kicked ass in the driver's seat. Nothing personal.

You know, Freddy is indeed a terrific drummer, as I remember him from TVBC also, however, COWS had three different drummers before him. The band was always about more than their drummer, I'd say, and over their time produced some of the most interesting and creative underground noise that has ever come out of the Twin Cities. Or anywhere else for that matter. So there.

Is satan girl truly so naive, or is she simply instigating? Cows were a great band that is sorely missed in this town. I must concur with Tim Mac, Norm ruled, and Freddie was great.

Satan Girl is wrong again. Cows didn't suck.
Freddy does rule (who was lucky enough to see him in TVBC?) and kicked ass with Cows. Definately my favorite Cows drummer.

Satan Girl is an instigator.

HA HA HA! I really have to agree with TinTin. Satan Girl, when you graduate from high school sweetie, we'll all take you out for some ice cream and a swift kick in the ass.

"Lucky" was not how to describe one's experience of seeing Fred drum for Tedious BC, probably one of the most self-indulgent "art" bands this town has spawned.
I was glad to see him move on to play in a rock band.

I saw Freddy with TVBC,he is one of my favorite drummers, but at the same time, the best drummer, Sandris Rutmanis was rockin with the COWS!

Last night I was glancing at a heavy glossy fashion magazine in the bookstore. There was a fashion spread featuring Dolce & Gabana clothing and Shannon Selberg was one of the models.

Not so fast.I dont think they are. It appears whom ever shot this footage made it lookas if this is suppose to be a yearbook photo. Hence the binding crease. However, it does not appear that the photos of the Cows were merely pasted onto some magazine photo. I could be wrong, but take a closer look and let me know what you think. sincerly theass

I guess that you could probably ask Shannon the story at the Entry on Saturday night, when he is in town with the Heroine Shieks.

thanks for the answers, I dont think I'll ask Shannon about them. I use to run into him at the CC back when and we'd have a few. He wouldn't say much , just kinda gaze through you with a dopey look. Every now and then he'd mumble something unintllegible. Plus he's doing the same ol' shtick on stage. It was amusing years ago, but after seeing a few shows, it wears thin fast.

Bump! Can anyone suggest a good CD? I went to Cheapo, so many to choose from!

I usually catch them playing at after-hours warehouse party or in the basement of a mansion.

I love most things Cows put out. But, to start I would probably go with Cunning Stunts or Sexy Pee Story.
