didn't know which forum to put this under...I've been trying to research the phenom of the soundtrack to the movie Valley Girl. I've known since day 1 that the vinyl of this is impossible to find. I've only seen 1 copy at a record show 10+ years ago and it was a bargain at $100. Research proves that it was originally released on Roadshow Records in 1983. Problems with licencing made this record illegal to release so all copies were recalled. Supposedly it only had 6 songs on it, but I'll be damned if I can find the track listing for this original release. About 8 years ago I found a still-sealed, pre-recorded cassette at Down In the Valley on Hwy 55 for $3. This was released on Avatar Records (an imprint of CBS) and has a track listing of: Side A: I Melt With You - Modern English Gils Like Me - Bonnie Hayes Love My Way - Psych Furs School Is In - Josie Cotton Everywhere At Once - Plimsouls Side B: Who Can It Be Now - Men At Work Shelly's Boyfriend - Bonnie Hayes She Talks In Stereo - Gary Myrick Johnny Are You Queer - Josie Cotton To confuse matters more, Rhino released 2 discs claiming to be the original soundtracks to Valley Girl. However, disc 2 has songs that weren't even in the movie. Anyone have the ORIGINAL vinyl soundtrack on Roadshow Records? If so I'd like to get the running order and see the artwork.

I thought the Plimsouls did 'Million Miles Away' in Valley Girl. In fact, I'm sure of it...IP: Logged |

There's two copies of the LP on ebay right now. No track listing on either, but you can see the cover.IP: Logged |

One of the copies of the LP is the same as the cassette that I have. The other is the "rare" one. As of 1:48am Dec 6 I am hte high bidder on this. We'll see if I get it. But here's the pic I grabbed from the ebay auction. IP: Logged |

OK, I won the auction. $26 and change, plus shipping for a sealed copy of the original Roadshow release. I'll post details and scans when the record arrives, and then add it into the History Of New Wave page I'm formulating.IP: Logged |

From what I remember seeing copies of this going for about 10 years ago, you got a STEAL...I vaguely remember the prices being around $100 USD. So...Yay, Ollie! Plesae tell me you'll open it and play it, though. I hate it when people buy stuff like this just so that they can say they have it.IP: Logged |
