No, this isn't about a conspiracy theory. I was just pondering the amount of older bands that have gotten back together and trotted it out on the road (with mostly rewarding results). I, for one, am very grateful. I have been able to see some amazing shows from bands that are integral to who I consider myself today, musically. Some of these bands I never thought would see the light of day again. (I really regret not seeing Bauhaus last time around)Just a quick list (I know I'm leaving some off): Patti Smith Daniel Ash Peter Murphy (but he comes 'round pretty regularily) Robyn Hitchcock (solo..fehh) Wayne Kramer(a while ago) Roxy Music the Fall(granted that was England) Wire Mission of Burma Einsturdzende Neubauten Lengendary Pink Dots Faust (ok that was '93) and coming up Camper Van Beethoven the Joe Jackson band Is this the last gasp for all concerned? Is this just a function of getting older and all music genres go through this? I know most have new stuff to perform, but they're riding on their rep from 20 years ago. It's just gotten me thinking... Anyone else? IP: Logged |

Blondie played First Ave.?! I saw the Taste of Minnesota show, wasn't aware of the other one.B-52's/Pretenders at Midway Stadium a few years ago. Nikki Corvette at the Turf Club this past summer. (Not that she had the original band with her or anything, but that was still one of my most fun half hours of 2002.) The Suburbs reunion shows IP: Logged |

I see that Suicide is playing around a bit in support of their new LP... though Rev/Vega never really went away. Scientists and DMZ playing the LA Shakedown in LA next Feb. First Rocket From the Tombs appearance in 27 years at Disastrodome in LA a week later (with Richard Lloyd on guitar). New Radio Birdman studio recordings out soon.
The Arthur Lee/Love show at First Avenue last July was pretty great (even tho A. Lee was ailing) and now he is touring a set of Forever Changes material... with horns and strings.
