I gots to say that I know next to nothing about Bragg but have always enjoyed him when others have played him for me. I'm a huge fan of the cockney sound that he and Paul Weller employ. So where does one start with Bragg?IP: Logged |

I'll make you a tape or cd of a bunch of stuff, from it you can decide wich album you might like. I could give it to you when you come to town. Also "Reaching to the Converted" is a good smattering of different points in his career.IP: Logged |

The version of "Walk away Renee" on Reaching to the Converted is great. Just Billy's character relating a tragi-comic tale of love lost over an acoustic rendition of the Left Banke classic. Neat-o.I think I started years ago with "Talking To The Taxman About Poetry", which seems like a pretty good representation of his style. IP: Logged |

My favorite 'Billy Style' can be found on Life's a Riot/Between the Wars EP. However, my wife and I's 'first solo dance' at our wedding was Days Like These, possibly my favorite Billy Bragg song. I read his book on tour a long time ago, I have read it every subsequent tour. If you like his music, I recommend his biography. If you really like him, and can somehow stand Jeff Tweedy, then I say check out the documentary on the making of Mermaid Avenue. IP: Logged |
