Does anyone have any cassette recordings of the old KFAI show broadcast on Saturday nights - circa 1983-1985? I believe the show was hosted by a man and a woman (Marcia?). As a kid, I used to record the show in my parent's basement in Roseville and then listen to the shows during the week. For some reason, I'd really like to hear some of those old shows (regardless of the playlists).

Of course, I have no idea where those cassettes are now. You tend to lose a lot of "stuff" over the years, and cassette tapes pretty much top the list of things fallen by the wayside.

I have nothing to exchange in return for these tapes (except, of course, your expenses).

Cheers.

Jon Copeland, Marcia and Viva were the hosts. Jon has posted to this forum before. You could probably ask him. I think he did record many of them. Did you also listen to Maximum Rock n Roll Radio?

Was Jon the one called Ronny Rocket? I have a few tapes of that show, and also "Acoustica/Electronia."

i think jon's show was called "rock of rages" or something like that...kfai used to have some rellly bitchin stuff back then...i also have fond memories of "crash gearbox"(hosted by drew miller) and "monkey island"(hosted by some maniac named vince or something i think)....jon even let me guest host with him one time, (what twisted thing made him let me do that is anyones guess), but damn those people used to play the good shit.wish they still had shows, i'd still have some faith in radio if they did.

Hi! Jon here. I read this post on Wednesday at an Internet Coffee shop in Kennebunkport Maine where I had paid $5 to log on but the connection crashed before I could respond.

(Kennebunkport is a little tourist town, The Bush family has a big compound around there somewhere, we were staying a way down the pike at a rented place on the ocean)

Anyway, what are we talking about? Oh yeah! I have tons of those tapes of our old show (Rock of Rages) in various boxes in various closets all unlabled. If anyone is interested I could dig them out someday. I'm somewhere in Vermont now but will be home soon.

Jon Copeland "Rock of Rages"
Chris Smith "Rodeo Peligroso"
Patti Walsh "So What"
Drew Miller "Crash Gearbox"
David Lowe "Lowdown"
Chris Kieser "Shadows of the Night"
Vince Wallander "Monkey Island"

Who survived? Earl Root "The Root of All Evil"

Did Eugene Spadaccini do "Adrenalin Solution"?

What was the name of Drew's Fri Nite slot until he went to "Prime Time" Tuesday Afternoon?

What was Jean Silverberg's 1st show before her resurrection? (she's also still on, right?)

Don't know Jean Silverberg's old show's name, but she's on KFAI every Friday night with Ron Thums from 9 - 10:30. The show specializes in surf, rockabilly, old country and punk, with an emphasis on older local music of all genres. It's special.

This is really a "now" posting but I couldn't resist adding to this thread. Myself, Jason (THD Records guy) and Abbi have a punk/hardcore radio show on KFAI "Radio Riot" every Thursday from midnight to 2 am. We play a good mix of punk from the late 70's to the present. Jason and I are pretty serious record collectors so you are certain to hear a lot of stuff you probably haven't heard in a long time. We try to play a lot of local music and also do gig announcements. All three of us work at Extreme Noise so there is a good representation of new stuff as well. You can also listen on the web KFAI.org. We would like to extend an invitation to any old KFAI DJ's to come in with us and spin some of their favorites and talk about the scene as they saw it back in the day.

I used to compile favorite bits of my favorite KFAI shows on tapes - so I have some about three generations down.

I loved Baghead Dreams, also Drew's Tuesday afternoon show, Rock of Rages, the show before it, Maximum Rock N Roll and the Ellis Reid project.

Anyone have tapes of Baghead Dreams??? What were those guys names? They'd have a tribute to D. Boone every year.

Nope, not Paul S., not going to the SW.

Just went shuffling through some old tapes of KFAI and trying to locate more tapes and info from my favorite shows.

Anyone know anything about the Pig Brothers?
