"veteran" of the Duluth Punk scene from about 1990=ish til '99 and once again in 01.

Ahhh the Blanks 77 show above the Fetus at the dance studio. Wasn't that the Subversives/Blanks 77 and Video Nasty?

Kingoffools,I'm going to guess you are Matt.
The Norshor was open for that Hudson Falcons show, but it never opens til at least late afternoon. And yes they did play and no I wasn't there because I got back into town from the west coast a couple days after. grrrr.
Ollie do you remember the D4/Subversives/Quincy Punks show at the 'Bell that a skinhead named Jackel kicked in that car window? I only remembered it because Paddy and a bunch of people were up here a few weeks back and we were waxing nostalgic about the Recyclabell.
Or on a more recent note do you remember yelling at that hippy chick at the Norshor during your set? Granted I didn't get to see it, since I was working , but I heard it from my perch downstairs.

i just gotta chime in here...
jackel wasn't, isn't, ain't never gonna be a skinhead. he's just a confused moron.
just cause a guy shaves his head and pretends to be all mean and knowledgable about punk don't make him a skin. if that were the case half the twin cities would be skinheads now.
"yeah dude i love punk, blink rocks"
direct quote from shorn moron at school.

I always kinda liked the 'Bell. Where else could ya get bagels w/ Peter Pan?

Quinlans never quite worked out as well

We had fun blowing the power at the Norshor big room. Bummed out the band going on after us.. which I don't understand... they were busy enough getting their hair braided by their girlfriends.

Ok Stinkbot, I was about 16 or 17 at the time, and I saw him once. I never heard or saw him again, which I suppose would have been a clue. But until I got into a conversation about the bell a couple weeks ago I hadn't given him a second thought in quite a while.

And Scotty, what band?

Your love of all things Jackyl probably had nothing to do with it....

I never went to punk shows up in dulut', but did happen upon a few ska sets at the 'bell. I remember a really good show at the 'bell with Fluxskapacitor (locals), some guys from Chicago (they were obsessed with Weezer) and the Skofflaws.

I haven't seen Norby in a couple of years. Do they play around much? Tell him I said "Hi!"

As a matter of fact, they are playing at the Norshor in Duluth on Sunday (the 17th) around 8 or so along with Lindquist ( former members of Giljunko) Bone Appetit and a surprise guest or two.

I belive this show was with the Quincy punx, not the subversives. I just moved up here in Sept of 96 and I was so excited to see this show up here. At the time I was really into the Quincy Punx. This show is still fresh in my ming as I had to take my buddy to the emergency room as he blew his knee out. Also, Blanks 77 locking the old lady that ran the dance studio at the time in the closet and trashing the place. They threw their costumes all over the place. I felt bad as the lady was crying while cleaning the place up. I felt bad for her, however it was funny at the time. I believe that was the last show ever there.

There was also some great shows at the alamo...those were my favorite.

Shawn, you are probably right, with all the shows I went to up there, they all start to run together after a while. I distinctly remember that incident though. It's really too bad, it was a fun place to go to shows and she was a really nice lady. I think the Alamo shows were possibly the best house shows in the history of house shows.
