She knew alot of folks in the sceen, her bro being a drummer the Suburbs & the fact she was incredibly cool. She was in our gang in the 90's & we had lots of good times together. She passed away last night due to heart probs from what little I know now. We will miss you Liz! Yeah, I was going to mention something about this today. A band I record over at Dusty's, called The Tinkers, dedicated their set this past Saturday to Liz, and were collecting money to help with expenses, etc. In the further interests of this cause, they will be performing a benefit in Liz's honor one week from this Saturday - the date will be Saturday, December 21st. I will be recording the benefit performance, for a future CD release, which will be sold or raffled (the details haven't been quite worked out yet) in order to raise funds for Liz's family, bills, etc.Liz was a regular at The Tinkers' shows, and if any of you come over, some of you may recognize some other faces there from years gone by. The Tinkers are an "unplugged" group, who play mostly Celtic tunes, along with a few old re-worked classics from the late '60s/early 70s. Dusty's is located at the intersection of Marshall and University, and I think the benefit will start around 8:30 or 9 pm, but showing up early is recommended, as it's a tiny place. I'll probably post something later in the bands thread, but this is really more about Liz, who is indeed missed by many of us. IP: Logged |

I met Liz about two years ago. I think Two Fisted was the one who introduced me to her. She was recovering from her first heart attack and was not happy about having to quit smoking cold turkey but she did it and limited her alcohol intake to one or two glasses of red wine a day. She was smart, funny, and fun to be with. My condolences to her family, especially Hugo's kids who will no doubt miss their aunt Liz very much.IP: Logged |
