Does anyone remember "new wave theater" hosted by Peter Ivers?
it was shown alot on night flight.

If that one cable Chicago Station was airing it in 87/88 yes I caught it. There was a show that came on late at night with a good bit of punk, which I was starving for in reform school.

I remember it well from the early 80s. He had the Angry Samoans on and they gave him a lot of shit for his cutsie costumes. Ivers was found murdered in a hotel room years later, I believe.

I just did a little googling on him. I found out that he wrote the song "In Heaven" for David Lynch's Eraserhead! He was murdered in the late 80s in his LA loft -- it was a robbery but there were a lot of other theories about how/why he was killed.

The show was a cable access show from LA and was later picked up by Nightflight.

In the mid-90s someone (Rhino?) released a 2 volume set of the Best Of New Wave Theater. That's the only footage I've seen and it's priceless. 45 Grave, Fear, Fleshtones, and those are just the "F" bands!

I've been looking for the videos for like 10 years Rhino doesn't have them in the catalog anymore. If anyone knows where I can find them or if anyone has a copy i'd love to duplicate them!
I remember my dad telling me that Lee Ving was gay and that was why he was always bashing gays on the show.
I have fond memories of watching that show with my ol dad.

Supposedly the killing of Peter Ivers was done by some skinhead for money. That was the rumor at the time, but you know how that stuff goes. Could've very easily been bullshit.
