don't know if this has been done before, but it's the middle of the day, it feels like a monday, and im fucking bored...anyone else have an embarrasing first tattoo? something that they wish they hadn't gotten? something that they look at and laugh at now? i went with the ever original bar code on my ankle. the numbers on the bar code are my birth date. i'm just happy now that while silly enough to want that on my body, i had the insight to get it on my ankle instead of the back of my neck. wow, i thought i was so profound. it's rather cute looking back, actually. i wouldn't remove it for anything. in my sixteen year old psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle fervor i had a three tattooed on me ribcage. I'm not actaully embarassed by it or anything, but it was my first. My second tattoo is much worse. It consists of badly tattooed lines on my wrist attempting to be some sort of tribal hoo-doo. it looks like a dirty band aid line. it's mostly covered now.IP: Logged |

I have no ink. Still trying to decide between a dolphin on my ankle or a butterfly in the middle of my lower back. Suggestions? IP: Logged |

My first one was an abandoned ankh, it doesn't really count. I did the center, made it look like a star, then snuck out the window to smoke my last cigarette. But my second one (or first completed, homemade one) is a PTV symbol, modified into a more tribal design. I still have it on my upper right arm. IP: Logged |

I have a Cardinal on my bicep (Ozzie Smith is a hero of mine) a Boba Fett related symbol on my upper arm and a Chinese character which means "to drag oneself along" on my shoulder. I like them all and more are coming when I can afford them. [This message has been edited by povertyrich (edited 09-10-2002).] IP: Logged |

A kid I went to highscool with had his first tattoo in 10th grade. It was his initials in 2 inch letters on his arm. His name was Troy Prosser and I bet he covered that sucker up eventually.IP: Logged |

my first tattoo was started when i was 18; al long had a homemade tattoo gun, and i think i was the third to be inked that night. point being, i had been drinking through the first two people's... at any rate, i think i was getting a celtic cross on my heart, and literally 5 minutes into the tattoo i spilled mad dog 20/20 all over the place. the gun made a loud fizzle noise, and it was literally 14 years before i had the damn thing finished. i called it my 'work in progress' until i figured out what i wanted to cover it up. This thread takes me back to an evening with the infamous Tattoo Dave. ?anyone else remember him? There was a line of Baldies waiting to be scratched with a guitar string and a Walkman motor. I heard he had his hands broken because he ripped someone off.IP: Logged |

Hey bread-boy, you know that I have a very nice color to my skin. Hence, I feel no need to mess it up with inked designs that over a period of time will sag and stretch into hideously ugly meaningless greenish blobs. Old people tattoos are much more disgusting than liver spots and wrinkles.IP: Logged |

but they have character and memory. that's the point, isn't it? that you can look back and say "at this time in my life this was important to me". I have a bar code on my ankle. Would i do it again? Hell no. Would I have it removed? Not for anything. I respect your choosing to not have tattoos, but that does not mean that anyone who does have them is covered in "trite" or "silly" images. Just something to think about... [This message has been edited by naked maygun (edited 09-13-2002).] IP: Logged |

which isn't to say, of course, that there aren't plenty of people who ARE covered in trite and silly images. I just respect that as their mistake, er, choice.IP: Logged |

I had 2 different tattoes that I was going to get and never did. Thank beer for that. My 1st tat was 3 years ago and it had been in my mind for 2 years. It is the Pennywise symbol, upside down and alterred to be my initials rather than the PW. I still love it and do not regret it. My next ones are right underneith the full circle, my daughters names. I am proud of all of them and some day will have more tattoos. IP: Logged |

I wanna tattoe!I dont have any tattoos but my hands and fingers get cut up enough anyway, funny how they dont hurt anymore, when I cut them. Is it true that your second tattoo hurts less that your first? IP: Logged |

i wouldn't say that mpls has ever been "full" of people with facial tattoos but yeah that element still exists in the twin cities. skitch's facial tattoos are in the latest skin art, by thee by. and there are also alot of pics of tattoos done by "tattoo shane" (wallin)of code 13 fame. the photos are from the tattoo expo that took place here last may.

I was 15 and got a stupid yellow smiley face tattoed above my right breast. His tounge is sticking out too. I'm full of ink everywhere so that distracts from the awful one. I will be covering it up in about 2 months or so with 2 naked chicks fighting. One is a punker and the other (who's getting her ass beat) is a yuppie girl. That'll take care of the stupid smiley face crap. IP: Logged |

I had a friend do the BLACK FLAG bars on my left shoulder. He put em kinda close together so I went to a shop on my birthday and my girlfriend paid for a coverup(same design/the bars). I like the tattoo but I don't like the connection to Henry Rollins or the fact that it reminds me of a lost love. Oh fucking well....IP: Logged |

So last time I was in SF, at the Tribe 8 show, they were having a contest for the worst tattoo. Well the prize was that the bassist was going to do a cover it up for them. The worst (which didn't win) was a guy who had old english letters, (very large), on his entire upper back that said "WAR" as in the band War. Of course it didn't get picked, that would of been a fucking huge cover up to do. IP: Logged |

i got hot water music lyrics on my back encircling a design i did myself as my first, my teaching tattoo. even though i dropped my music ed major a quite a while ago, it still means something. and that meaning is not what it originally was. the trick is to find words that will last, that with grow and change with you. "bring back your wisdom to trade. bring back the words you've saved. and teach me so that i can teach on." don't regret it one bit.

Remember India Ink? Surrounded by Mad Dog and 4 other teenagers when I was 15-16, we all "gave" ourselves tattoos with the ink and a sewing needle. One guy said "it'll wear off....". Um, NO. It actually works better than you'd think.I have a stickfigure guy on my ankle and I had the word HATE on the top of my left wrist. Needless to say, I covered the word up as soon as I turned 18. Looking back I should have had my mom sign for me to do it earlier... ------------------ *You don't have to fuck people over to survive* IP: Logged |
