I never liked Journey when I was growing up. The only reason I ever listened to them was to get in a girls panties, but lately I've been hearing it on the radio and it's kind of growing on me. Especialy the songs: "Wheel in the Sky", "Midnite Train", and "Anyway You Want It". Am I getting old?IP: Logged |

I've met a few people (all women, oddly enough) in the past few years who'll not only admit to loving Journey, they seem actually proud of it. Personally I wish I knew more of their songs, if only because the chorus of "Wheel In The Sky" is stuck in my head, and I wish it wasn't just those few seconds replaying themselves over and over and.....I will admit however, when my wooden stage presence was loudly criticized by Bob Murderer, I ran home to observe the dynamic way Steve Perry emotes in the video to "Oh Cheri". I credit my new fists clenched/elbows at sides/eyes closed/pained expression style (not to mention the sleeveless t-shirts) to his genius. Thanks Steve-O! IP: Logged |

Sorry I am so not down with this. This band was polluting the airwaves last night, and I think they are as wretched now as I did 20 years ago. Sorry, I just don't get it.------------------ C40 C40 C40 GO IP: Logged |

I don't know what it is about this band that makes normally intelligent people turn to fawning fanboys. A. Steve Perry sucks. The band never wanted him in it in the first place. He has a mullet. And what about that short lived moustache?? He looked like a rat! B. The guitar playing is great; if over the top jacking off is your definition of great. C. Rhythm section? They plod on real stoic like. No excitement what so ever. D. Ever see the Behind the Music? "Oh Steve was such an asshole for making a solo record that sounded just like Journey." Cry me a river. He made a record that was just as insipid as his regular band's material. More so, even. E. "Don't Fight It" Steve Perry & Kenny Loggins. Need we say more?IP: Logged |

HOW MUCH FOR TICKETS!!? You couldn't pay me triple that to see them. I'd rather shove a red hot poker up my ass then listen to journey or REO speedwagon. I *HATE* them. Thanks for reading my ultra-negitive post! Thanks Satan for starting this thread so that I could amuse myself by being so ultra-negitive! cheers! IP: Logged |

I think some of you are insecure about your punkuality, so you talk about how much you hate Journey to make up for it. I'm here to say it's ok not to be 100% punk 24 hours a day.IP: Logged |

I heard from Randy Hawkins, who did sound for the show, that about 800 people showed up and it rocked in exactly the way you'd expect. He can't stand Journey, either. They were, as far as I noticed, one of the first bands ever labeled "corporate rock" (in Musician), and I have to admit that idea stuck with me. But I hated Journey before I was punk, before I had taste, back when I was listening to the radio nonstop and the only corporation I could name was the one they sung the name of on Laverne and Shirley. The Smokey Robinson-meets-Boston overkill of the music was just obviously silly, and it still is. (And I'm speaking as someone with a soft spot for both Smokey Robinson and Boston.) IP: Logged |

Ok now that's just dumb. First of all, I don't look punk at all and Knobgobblin revoked my punk card a long time ago for going to a baby shower dressed like Leona Helmsly. I'm a Mommy, I wear flip flops and pay to much to get my hair died. I listen to depeche mode, I've enjoyed bands like They might be giants, I like the Beatles. Why am I here? B/c today on my way to work I listened to the Jesus Lizard (bang) just about as loud as my ears could stand. Does this make me punk? Nope. But some of the people here can relate to my passion for bands like JL. Which other mommy's I know don't really get. I simply don't like Journey because they suck ass so bad that it actually makes me physically ill to hear them. I'm sorry that you are defending them but I respect your lack of taste and don't really judge you too harshly for it. Actually I should blame your parents! Your punkuality theory is a crock. So I guess me and you taking my van down to the river with a case of PBR and some Journey 8 tracks to talk about my theory is out of the question?

As a single person this would not have been out of the question. I just would have brought along some winsor, coke and ice for myself. I'd replace the Journey 8's with ELO and Bowie cassettes, and I would have offered to picked you up in my honda with the hatch back and Pile speakers.

i got a journey t shirt when i was 9 years old. i wasn't really a fan but me auntie knew how much i dug the rockin music so i got the shirt. i never listened to them until i was makin a tape at my pal caine's house one drunken night, and when i passed out he slipped that song about san francisco "when the lights go out in the city..." between sides of a dystopia record. now i love them, well i love that song anyway.IP: Logged |
