I was inebriated in Deutchland. I had a Mercedes and drove it to Frankfurt every weekend to buy hash, either from the Turks or the Africans. Then charge G.I.s 3 times what I paid for it. I pulled my head out of my ass 18 years later.IP: Logged |

I saw the last date of the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" tour. 3 greatest show I've seen in my life (behind Kraftwerk and Roxy Music). They had been on the road for 18 months so they were the tightest band I've ever seen, yet loose and spontanious as it was the last night of the tour. IP: Logged |

I was 10 and probably playing in the dirt pit behind my house in Oakland. Didn't care about music and was scared of girls (especially that one who would pin me down and punch me all the time). IP: Logged |

Dropped out of HS, used a (poorly altered)fake ID to get into Uptown, 7th St., McCafferty's, McCready's, stealing my parent's car late at night, hanging out at Embers @ Henn. & 26th, No.Lights(block E), smoking a lot of pot, taking a lot of acid... Urban Guerillas, Replacements, Bauhaus, Patti Smith...IP: Logged |

I think I still thought hash was for thugs back then. But by 86 I was smoking with the best of them! And living with a Turkish family. Where were you in Germany? IP: Logged |

I was in Santa Monica and Hollywood from 77-92, and up in Santa Cruz from 96-98. I prefer my times not in California, however IP: Logged |

I liked Oakland, but I was a youngster. I would prefer that I never set foot in So.California again.

UC-Santa Cruz? Don't they have an amusement park there, too? Or is that the college? IP: Logged |

yep, I was at UC Santa Cruz for two REALLY LONG years. There is a boardwalk there with rides, if memory serves, though i spent the majority of my time there trying to figure out how to get the hell out of there. For the record, I hate California. I, too, would live a happy life if i never set foot in SoCal ever again. It's icky. IP: Logged |

As soon as I graduated, I packed up and moved to Wisconsin. People thought I was nuts "You moved here from California. If I lived in California (read: I watched a lot of 90210)I would never move away!" It's the smartest thing I've ever done. IP: Logged |

Point taken. Having visited the left coast a few times, I can't picture living there.Bringing things full circle, in 1984 the company I was working for moved to California, and wanted me to go with. I turned 'em down. They went to Santa-frickin-Barbara. And then they went out of business. Ha.

I graduated from Marquette Middle to East High School (in Madison, Wisconsin), shaved my head, became friends with some Salvadoran refugees at my church, read Orwell, became a "radical," bought Double Nickels/Zen Arcade/Let It Be in one week, wrote my first record reviews, played in my first band ("House of the Rising Sun"/Butthole Surfers covers/"original" punk), went to my first student protests (anti-apartheid), was offered my first chance at sex (I chickened out), played in a reggae band for one day, wrote and received my first long love letters...IP: Logged |

In 1984 I graduated from high school, started setting up hall shows with my Garage cohorts, applied to the U at the last minute and worked. Hung out at Northern Lights and continued my quest to get a job there (which didn't happen until the following year.IP: Logged |
