I am thoroughly fed up with all the Aerosmith-bashing. Is it because they're still huge? Is it because they've still got the energy to do it? Is it because they can still write good tunes? Is it because Joe Perry is indisputably one of the best hard rock guitar players ever? Or is it Steve Tyler's amazing vocal range? And if you think they don't put out good albums anymore I will have to vehemently disagree. Nine Lives was as good as anything they did in the '70's. Fuck yeah. Sobriety has been pretty good to those boys.

i like aerosmith, but i think the reason most people hate them is because they're sick of hearing their tunes on the radio.

i think that people (me included) hate Aerosmith not because they're so good, but in fact because they're so god damn terrible. i could go a lifetime without hearing Mr.Tyler warble on about angels, elevators or daddies little cuttie. seriously it's annoying.

"goin' under - rats are in the cellar
goin' under - skin is turnin' yella
nose is runny - losin' my connection
losin' money - gettin' no affection"

Aerosmith has some vintage hard rock tunes, killer guitar riffs, etc. Not a bad band. But I suppose they are not very punk at all and in many ways can be filed under Cock-rock, hence Aerosmith bashing.

As far as writing their own music, I believe that they don't really do that anymore and now hire songwriters like Desmond Child and Glen Ballard to help them craft commercially viable pop rock songs.

"last night I tried to tease her
I gave my love a little pinch
she said now stop that jivin'
now whip out your big 10 inch

record of a band that plays those blues"

and

"Mamma take me home sweet home
I was the last Child, just a punk in the street." ???

... not that I even like Aerosmith that much

Used to rock in the 70's.

"Chip Away at the Stone" anyone? That song rules.

"Just Push Play" sucks, and I'm tired of hearing it in radio commercials, TV commercials, and then I go seea movie, and it pops up in those fucking commercials too.

Mucho respecto for the RunDMC thing, but playing with NSYNC & Britney at the super bowl halftime show, is just flat out wrong.

Well, wait a minute Quaqmire. I like "Last Child", "Toys In the Attic", "Walk This Way". Probably my favorite might be their version of "Train Kept A Rollin'". And serious bigups for the Run-D.M.C. thing. Even in the '80's I'd say "Love In An Elevator" had a killer guitar riff. And embarrasingly enough, I will admit to liking "Angel".

Let's just say Aerosmith for me, is a guilty pleasure.

Well, I'm sorry I'm not getting much agreement here. But I sure do hear enough about how much you people love Van Halen, Ted Nugent, Billy Joel, Cher, Motley Crue and (Jesus Christ...) Journey.
Aerosmith's Live Bootleg LP is still harder, brasher and more punk-assed than a lot of so-called punk and "rock" I've heard. The version of "Toys" on that record could flatten a high school (wish it woulda flattened mine. Everyone else was into disco, Olivia, and Skynyrd.) Really, though, if you haven't seen 'em live I pity you.

I love Aerosmiths self-titled album, Toys in the Attic, Get Your Wings, Rocks, and Draw the Line, but after that I just don't get it. There's a song or two I don't mind, but for the most part the rest is just far too commercial for my liking. BUT... I have to agree with Moldy about the Van Halen/Journey/Nugent/etc. lovers out there. In my opinion Aerosmith, even at their worst, is miles above and beyond any of the above mentioned.

I hear that Steve Tyler is missing over half of the cartilage in his nose from sniffin so much coke. How do you spose he picks his nose without poking his finger through?

p.s. Hey MoldyRamone, I read about your illness, how are you feeling? Better I hope

My best-est friend called me from Charlotte last night...her apartment faces Verizon Ampitheater and Moldy's boys were playing. "Ring-ring...Hi, guess what I'm listening to?" "I don't know, LORAH?" "Nope...Aerosmith are playing 'Walk this Way' over at the ampitheater as we speak." "You suck!" "Yep, and they just finished 'Crazy.' I knew you'd be the only person I know to appreciate it." "Not the only one...Moldy is a huge fan...and my roommate owns everything through Permanent Vacation." "Cool, could you burn some copies for me?"

Moldy, deep down, we're all fans of Aerosmith. These people just need to get over themselves and open up to the sexy-greatness that is the Tyler-Perry rock-god duo. I'm even gonna pop in a disc on the way to work this morning to get the blood flowing.

I'm hot and cold with Aerosmith. I love some stuff, I hate other stuff. It all depends.

C'mon "Just Push Play", "Angel", etc, everyone makes mistakes right?

I just choose to listen to the stuff I like. I would have to say that "Get Your Wings" Is one of my favorite albums.
