Little sis just e-mailed me to say she'll be there tonight...bitch! At least I have the satisfaction of knowing she'll have to tape it if she actually wants to watch it...the seats are 4 row from the top in left field, right next to the jumbotron.IP: Logged |

Then she'll be sitting near me (YEEE-HAW!). Bring binoculars. And an oxygen tank. And cotton-balls to shove up your nostrils. And don't be surprised by the lack of ushers--they've been replaced by Himalayan Sherpas. IP: Logged |

My GF's employer has some kick ass seats: first row behind home plate. One ticket was available to her group, but she was too low on the totem pole to get it. We're hoping for a set of two for game 6 or 7.IP: Logged |

did peter gammmons go to any games in oakland? wouldn't it be nice to walk up to a ticket window before a deciding 5th game and get a ticket? we drew just under 2,000,000 this year in a lousy park. figure in we were 11 to 17 games up in the standings for the last 8-9 weeks of the season. not much drama in that scenerio. i went though. anyways, we lost tonight, big deal. we'll get them on friday. no panic here. GO TWINS!!! IP: Logged |

I went to Game 2 of the ALCS and had a mostly pretty great time, except for that one jarheaded sports fan.I was sitting in a section that was not getting good attention from the beer vendors. So after the third inning I went out to the concourse to get a beer, and got back to my row for the middle of the fourth. I got up again during the seventh inning stretch for another beer (successfully avoiding that Lee Greenwood song) and returned with my beer between the seventh and eighth innings. As I was making my way down the row to my seat some young whippersnapper said to me, "If you get up one more time, I swear to god, I'm gonna fuckin' kill you.". Whoa. WTF? I laughed out loud. How else can you respond to that? If he's there for game six I think I'll come and go while someone is batting. And I'll do it often too. IND IP: Logged |

i noticed that you said "on my way DOWN to my row". stuffy people seats. you should have flipped the 6 year old off and then leaped and beat the pulp out of his dad for bringing up a kid with an attitude like that.IP: Logged |

For game 2, there was an awesome surly guy who was walking around, aimlessly talking to shit to someone. "Yo bitch, who you think you is? Where you from? Mound?" This guy was great.I almost wished they'd put Tim Laudner out there to catch. He was there, he's obviously put a few pounds on, no one's getting past him. IP: Logged |

So true Mr. Dean. There are lots of 6 year olds in the stuffy seats. I spent too much cash to sit with all of those stiffs. Great view of the pitches though. The angry young man in my row was more 22ish. IND IP: Logged |

Best of five series now. I'll take my chance with Milton/Mays/Radke on the road. Tonights game is huge if beat Washburn, Anahiem can kiss the series goodbye.[This message has been edited by gilligan (edited 10-11-2002).] IP: Logged |

The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Mudville nine that day; The score stood four to two, with but one inning more to play, And then when Cooney died at first, and Barrows did the same, A pall-like silence fell upon the patrons of the game.A straggling few got up to go in deep despair. The rest Clung to that hope which springs eternal in the human breast; They thought, "If only Casey could but get a whack at that — We'd put up even money now, with Casey at the bat." But Flynn preceded Casey, as did also Jimmy Blake, And the former was a hoodoo, while the latter was a cake; So upon that stricken multitude grim melancholy sat; For there seemed but little chance of Casey getting to the bat. But Flynn let drive a single, to the wonderment of all, And Blake, the much despised, tore the cover off the ball; And when the dust had lifted, and men saw what had occurred, There was Jimmy safe at second and Flynn a-hugging third. Then from five thousand throats and more there rose a lusty yell; It rumbled through the valley, it rattled in the dell; It pounded on the mountain and recoiled upon the flat, For Casey, mighty Casey, was advancing to the bat. There was ease in Casey's manner as he stepped into his place; There was pride in Casey's bearing and a smile lit Casey's face. And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed his hat, No stranger in the crowd could doubt 'twas Casey at the bat. Ten thousand eyes were on him as he rubbed his hands with dirt. Five thousand tongues applauded when he wiped them on his shirt. Then while the writhing pitcher ground the ball into his hip, Defiance flashed in Casey's eye, a sneer curled Casey's lip. And now the leather-covered sphere came hurtling through the air, And Casey stood a-watching it in haughty grandeur there. Close by the sturdy batsman the ball unheeded sped — "That ain't my style," said Casey. "Strike one!" the umpire said. From the benches, black with people, there went up a muffled roar, Like the beating of the storm-waves on a stern and distant shore; "Kill him! Kill the umpire!" shouted some one on the stand; And it's likely they'd have killed him had not Casey raised his hand. With a smile of Christian charity great Casey's visage shone; He stilled the rising tumult; he bade the game go on; He signaled to the pitcher, and once more the dun sphere flew; But Casey still ignored it, and the umpire said "Strike two!" "Fraud!" cried the maddened thousands, and echo answered "Fraud!" But one scornful look from Casey and the audience was awed. They saw his face grow stern and cold, they saw his muscles strain, And they knew that Casey wouldn't let that ball go by again. The sneer has fled from Casey's lip, the teeth are clenched in hate; He pounds with cruel violence his bat upon the plate. And now the pitcher holds the ball, and now he lets it go, And now the air is shattered by the force of Casey's blow. Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright, The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light, And somewhere men are laughing, and little children shout; But there is no joy in Mudville — mighty Casey has struck out. ----------------------------------- Thanks for the great season boys. Hope to see you all back next year.

The Twins were absolutely more than anyone could ask for this year. A sad ending to a fantastic year. I'm so very proud of the boys and what they've accomplished. Look out for next year. Now they've had a taste of the play-offs. If we had to lose to somebody I'm glad it was the Angels. They played their best and have never been to the World Series. At least it wasn't Oakland, or the Yankees. I say good luck to the Angels and thanks to the Twins! IP: Logged |

My little brother called towards the end of the disastrous 7th inning and said, "Don't worry. You'll be in the playoffs next year...you're in a shitty division." Thanks, little bro.As much as it pained me to see my beloved Twins lose, it's nice to think that a well-deserving team beat us. Now I can look forward to watching the World Series without any pressure. I'll be able to enjoy it for the game itself and won't cringe or cheer with every pitch. Won't give myself migraines or a stomachache worrying about it either. We'll get 'em next season. IP: Logged |

"most memorable moments in mlb history" were tallied tonight on fox. cal ripkins consecutive games was #1. ????????????? there are many arguments, but lou gerhig, had to stop playing. cals wasn't dramatic, it was a given, like a parade. here's my three, and i've given this some thought.(#3) a gimpy kirk gibson pitch hits a homer in the bottom of the 9th (game 1 or 2?) world series to win a game for the dodgers in 1988. his knees were so bad he never batted again in that world series. and the dodgers went on to win the series (#2) jack morris, pitching a complete 10 inning shut out, in game 7, 1991 world series for the twins.(#1) bill mazeroski, of the pirates, homers in the bottom of the 9th, to beat the yankees in game 7 of the 1960 world series.

So is anyone here really disappointed that poor old Barry Bonds didn't get his ring he so desperately wanted? This is what makes me steamed. That the media plays this kind of thing up so the public will begin to think that just because player is near to retiring they need to attain a ring. If A-Rod hasn't played on a World Series-winning team when it's time for him to retire, will he deserve it as well? I don't think so. IP: Logged |

I'm not disappointed. Hoping Barry Bonds would lose was the only thing that kept me interested after the Twins lost. And believe me, it was hard to cheer for Mickey Mouse's team. But, goddam, do I hate Barry Bonds.IP: Logged |

Twins release David Ortiz La Velle E. Neal III Star TribunePublished Dec. 17, 2002 NASHVILLE -- The Twins on Monday released designated-hitter David Ortiz after failing to swing a deal for him. The release of Ortiz created a spot on the Twins' 40-man roster, which the club used to select shortstop Jose Morban in the Rule V draft. Morban, 23, batted .260 last season with eight homers, 66 RBI and 21 steals for Class A Charlotte of the Rangers system. Morban must remain on the major league roster all season, or be offered back to Texas. If he sticks, he'll provide speed and defense off the bench. Ortiz, 27, batted .272 last season with 20 homers and 75 RBI. The numbers were decent, but not for someone who often hit cleanup on a division-winning team. The Twins, who shopped Ortiz during the second half of last season, searched for interest in the DH after the general managers' meetings last month. Twins GM Terry Ryan said he got close to dealing him on a couple of occasions, but the trades did not pan out. "There were some people who had some interest in David," Ryan said. "And people were also waiting to see if we were not going to tender [a contract to] him." Ortiz, currently playing first base in the Dominican Republic winter league, must pass through release waivers before becoming a free agent. "I wish I could have been able to deal him," Ryan said. "It would not surprise me if he was claimed by someone. He's the type of guy that, when he steps in the batter's box, has a chance to hit the ball out." Ortiz, popular among his teammates, batted .266 over six seasons with the club. He hit 58 homers and drove in 238 RBI in his six seasons. -------------------------------- Good thing? Bad thing? I don't know anything about this Jose Morban cat. Isn't baseball season right around the corner!?

Smitty told me the same thing. I know absolutely nada about hockey and so I tend to lose interest because I don't know what's going on. I think it's a pretty difficult sport to watch on television because it's hard to follow the puck. I suppose if you have a 62-inch TV it'd be easy, but alas, I don't. I wouldn't mind checking out a Wild game, but I'd have to go with someone who could fill me in on all the rules.

You buy the Wild tickets lute and I will fill you in on the aspects of the game. Its not the diffucult to follow.I can't believe they couldn't trade Ortiz. His problem is he can't stay healthy. Someone will pick him up. Toronto/Detroit/Kansas City maybe they all need a descent bat in the line up. "Matthew Country LeCroy" is right handed and the Twins are loady with lefties hence bye bye Ortiz the Big O no relation to the Pushrods guitartist. Give LeCroy 500 at bats he'll hit 25-30 out no problem plus they don't have to pay him shit like they would have for Ortiz. Yes pitchers and catchers report in about two months. IP: Logged |

YAY!!! Baseball talk!I think it was probably a good thing to let go of Ortiz. He had some good at-bats when needed, but he didn't show very good consistancy. In a DH you need that. Also the Lefty factor. I WOULD HAVE BEEN THRILLED TO GET THOME. DAMN IT! Oh well. 2 months, I can't wait! And Lute, for Christ sakes, let's go to a Wild Game or better yet a High School game (for the novice since they move a little slower). Did you forget I played it for years? I can give you the ins and outs of hockey.

I think Carl Pohlad was smart not to go after Thome. He went for $18 million/year to Philadelphia. Sure, he's a good player, but I don't think he's $18 million good. He made $7.5 million last year, and I say his new contract should've went for $11 million max. But, then, I'm not a baseball negotiator. I'm sure he probably has the same agent as Alex Rodriguez. The Twins couldn't afford him because he was overpriced by the market. What's more, Philadelphia was absolutely ridiculous in signing him, because they just let a perfectly good power hitter go to St. Louis in Scott Rolen during the pennant chase last fall. Thome's not going to a contender, so I feel sorry for him. It's all about the money in that deal. I don't think the Twins are going to make any deals, and this worries me. There's no way we can win a World Series with this current lineup. I'd love to eat my words, but we need one or two more big bats, we need to dump Rick Reed and his salary (which they're not going to do), and we need to give Santana and Lohse shots at the 4 and 5 slots. Everyone else is in rebuild mode, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the White Sox make a more legitimate run at the pennant this year, and, unless we get some changes made to the lineup, I don't see the Twins getting past the first round. It'll be a fun season, but it's still premature to even discuss it...can we wait a couple months? IP: Logged |

Okay so yeah he's not the nice guy we thought he was, however it seems to me the "other woman" has a bit of a chip on her shoulder and quite fucked up herself. She felt threatened because he said if she were planning anything against him she'd be in big trouble. PUH-LEASE, that could mean any number of things. And then I love the quote "Kirby doesn't take care of problems he gets rid of them." What the fuck is he John Gotti now? I don't know it just seems that this chick is pissed off because after he left Tonya he didn't run to her and now she wants revenge.
