Ciderpunk gave me a bunch of tapes that I have burned to cd, and can convert to Real Audio if we ever find a place to store them.

Well I hope you do someday. I'd love to hear the shows, especially the banter and info between songs. Y'all could learn me a thing or three.

I was thinking of starting a thread looking for someone to put the burned cds of the show online. I'm still taping the show every week. I'm guessing that I have around 70 shows waiting to be burned onto cd and then put on the web somewhere. Can anyone help us out here???????

Amazingly enough, I can. Although burning 70 cassettes sounds a bit time consuming. Maybe you should start by picking a few good moments.

Great show last night Abbi. You should've played that Nick Cave song in it's entirety , some of us like Nick too.

What, you don't like GISM? Totally sick mix of Maiden with Discharge? The quintessential japanese metal/hc masters were Deathside. Hugely influential in Japan and elsewhere. In my opinion the Japanese take punk music especially the sound and look very, very seriously. I think high levels of musicianship are pretty standard and this leads to some outrageous guitar virtuosity. Death Agonies and Screams was covered by Poison Idea too!

No, it was good shit, but it seems like all the Nippon songs you played would chug along making me want to tear up the inside of my car, and then Mick Mars could come in and wank all over the top of it.

And GISM is the band that did "Endless Blockade" on the PEACE comp, right?

felix, you really should play some Chaos CH(assuming you have something by them) since the only english words they know are:
"drunk with party" and "Felix von Havoc".
i love the japanese hardcore!

It appears that I let this one drop so I apolgize. So Ken, are all these shows on tape or are the mp3 files?

Hey Owen, all the shows are on 120 min tapes. Ollie was burning them to cd for me for a while. We may have around 10 or 12 on disc now, I'll have to ask Ollie. I found another person to help transfer them to cd, what we really need is someone to put them online somehow.

Well, turning those cd's into mp3's is pretty easy but editing them would be a problem. You should consider recording future shows onto a computer from now on with an mp3 or real audio recorder so that they are easier to put up on the web. As for getting them onto a site, I am totally ignorant of this whole html thingy but Ollie has mp3's on his site so he must understand it better than I do. Can Felix stream from his site?

This is what it seems to come down to every time. Where to host the shows. From what I understand the files are huge. There was talk of putting shows on the Extreme Noise site, on my site, on a free site like 365 live (RC put two shows up on there). I wish I knew more about computers I'd figure this out once and for all. What I envisioned was some sort of thing where the last week or two or three was on a site and as new shows were added old ones dropped off. You could also maybe but up "best of" or "greatest hits" shows or whatever from time to time. I have tapes of a lot of shows, but Ciderpunk's archive is by far the most complete.

I'm the other person helping digitize the shows. I can easily convert the files to mp3s. Mp3s are usually 1 meg a minute so were looking at 120 megs total per show which I can break up into 30 meg half hour parts. So this will be some disk space. Not too much if we follow Felix's plan for the last few shows plus a few best ofs. I not sure how streaming stuff works at all though.

Five minutes of research has given me this. Mp3s can be streamed if you have winamp and Shoutcast. The software is all free, but you need to have the box (as opposed to space on someone else's server) and the bandwith to do it.

I guess it depends on the size of the file. Certainly RC should have some good info on crushing files considering what he was doing with his radio shows.

The wind-up radio that I use to listen to R.R. in bed isn't seeming so great anymore. I couldn't go more than 20 minutes without winding the fucker up.

Great show last night - what I heard of it anyway!
