Hey! Welcome to town! Like Evil Angel said, 1st Ave/7th St Entry & The Uptown are great, obviously. As far as other live venues, there are a ton--check under NOW:Bands and see who is playing where. Nye's Polanaise Room is where I take anybody who is from out of town. I play pool at Grumpy's on Washington-- great bar. Bob's & Bryant Lake Bowl are great for people-watching and are a little more low-key.. Gee... there are just so many places...

Hey Lilac Wine...I assume you're over 21, if you're not then you're kinda fucked. Extreme Noise Records - Lake and Lyndale THE center of 99% of hte punk rock action in town.Babylon - 17th and Lake Street Where most of the DIY punk shows happenBig V's and the Turf Club - University and Snelling St. Paul Good venues for punky bar rock7th St Entry - First ave and 7th St. You should already know about this.Treehouse Records - 26th and Lyndale Great selection of new and used garage rock, punk, indie rock and weirdnessRoadRunner Records - 34th and Nicollet complimentary yet different to Treehouse. If you can't find it at one of the 3 record stores then no one in town is carrying it.Twin Town Guitars - 32nd and Lyndale Encore Music - 24th and Lyndale Music Go Round - Lake, just off of Hennipen Where to go for your instrument needs (I was gonne mention Willie's in St Paul but they're WAY spendy)Hope that helps a bit. Actually, I used to think Mojo WAS a girl. So whiny. Get your coffee at Bob's Java Hut{27th and Lyndale) or Spyhouse{25th and Nicollet}; great breakfast at Sunnyside(26th and Lyndale); late night at Pizza Luce( til 3AM at 119 North 4th Street, til 1 at 32nd And Lyndale) IP: Logged |

My preference is towards Hardcore shows at Babylon and hanging out at Extreme Noise records. Most of the above places mentioned are alright, but what about Bob's Java Hut? Why does everyone always list bars? Even people who drink don't drink all the fucking time. Bob's on 27th and Lyndale has rad coffee and depending on the time of day (I'm mostly there 7 or 8 am.) is really cool to hang out at. I just moved in next to this bar the Chatterbox. It's fairly unremarkable kind of hipster bar, but they have Atari 2600 games, play all you want for a buck. Battlezone, Missle Command, Wizard of War, you can knock yourself out. This town also has the best Vietmamese food I've had anywhere in N. America. Start with Lotus and Kihndo and work your way east to St. Paul. IP: Logged |

For good eats I've always been a fan of the Chef's Revenge or whatever it is called at the joint on the West Bank. What the hell is the name of it? It used to be Blondie's on the Ave.IP: Logged |

Oooh, boys, don't forget Kahn in Roseville , St. Paul suburb. Kahn is a Magonlia restaurant. There is a buffet with raw meat and vegatabes. Fill up your bowl so they'll cook it for you. IP: Logged |

Duolono's? Yeccch! It's a dump and the pizza blows. Luce makes decent pizza and it's lots more fun to hang out in. Tons of good food in this town these days. You have to go to the Entry, The Uptown I can do without but you probably should check it out, I only go to "adult" clubs with booze and fist-fights so I can't recommend any all-ages stuff except Bob's which is the best coffee joint to hang out in. Welcome to town.IP: Logged |

Oh no, not Khan's. I work there. We got a new gong. A real bloody gong, and the bastards wail on that thing. i though I was getting hearing damage from band practice, now the leading cause is Friday lunch. But, yeah, it is good food. I still eat it after two years and that's at least 4 times a week. It's free. i'm broke. There's also a new one in Coon Rapids. The best location is, and always shall be, Roseville. I bartend on Sundays, and pour tasty drinks. ------------------ "Excellent Cartoonery" [This message has been edited by DWITT (edited 12-07-2002).] IP: Logged |

SHAKEY'S!! I used to love Shakey's when I was a kid--the one in Stadium Village showed old Keystone Cops and Laurel & Hardy shorts. Going there was like, the Big Treat! Then they went away But.. then I was in LA, and I was driving along and I saw a Shakey's Pizza.. so I was like "I have to eat here!" The pizza wasn't as good as I remember, but their unique crust was the same, so that was okay. Then, the cool surprise was that they didn't show old movies, but they did show the Vikings games on Sundays! So I went every Sunday and ate pizza and watched the Vikings with the other displaced Minnesotans IP: Logged |

Yeah, Roseville. We've had the gong for a week, and it's seriously dented. It's taller than I am!!!! Bleeding Ears loud. Evil Angel, please don't....It's the same crazy owners. Loonier than ever, now with more money to fuel their insanity. ------------------ "Excellent Cartoonery" IP: Logged |

As far as pizza goes, I'm hooked on Red's Savoy Inn, on 7th st in St.Paul. It's two blocks from my studio for an easy stumbling trip.------------------ "Excellent Cartoonery" IP: Logged |

Ooooh, you are in trouble! I may have to bring my co-workers with me. And if I hit that gong, I'll just turn off my hearing aids. [This message has been edited by Evil Angel (edited 12-07-2002).] IP: Logged |

The meatier the better. Greasyness is next to godliness.I live just off Franklin, but I spend nearly every waking moment at my studio in St.Paul, so it's one of my few luxuries. ------------------ "Excellent Cartoonery" IP: Logged |

I haven't really had any good Pizza since I moved here. I can't tell you what the best pizza in town is, because I don't really think any of it is that good. The worst though, has to be Pizza Shack on E lake. I laugh when kids come into shows at babylon with that pizza. A pizza war would be good. Only the strong would survive. IP: Logged |
