Topic: More bad news

We got the results back from Steve's last scan yesterday and I'm afraid it wasn't what we wanted to hear. It sounds like he has 3-4 new spots on his liver, and 2 of the tumors in his brain are swollen with some bleeding around them with quite a bit of swelling in the nearby areas.His oncologist has put him back on the steroids that he hates and we're going in today at 4:30 for a consult with her as to what the next course of action will be. Possibly more radiation and most likely more chemo. Needless to say, we once again are devastated by this news. We want to thank everyone of our friends and everyone on this board who have given us so much support. He didn't go in to work last night, but that wasn't really an option for me, so I brought him to work with me.  So we just kind of hung out all night together. It was good... The H.R. woman where he works did the coolest thing for him though. She looked back at his re-hire date and found out that it was exactly 6 months to the day that he started and called us and asked us to come in so he could punch in for 1/2 hour and get credit for working that day just in case he needs to go back on disability. It will insure his eligibility for it. So we went in and walked around and chatted with all his co-workers for half an hour and left. We've got enough crap to worry about right now without worrying about financial stuff, so it was especially nice of her to be looking out for his best interest. I'm not sure what to say, but I hope you guys can keep it together. I've never met either of you, but Mouldy seems like a genuinely nice person. Hang in there and try and enjoy your family and friends over the holidays. Cancer sucks.IP: Logged |
